The Gervin House c.1845

Vintage Bathroom Addition

The upstairs didn’t have a bathroom but we really wanted to get a bathroom upstairs for the two bedrooms on the second floor. We played with the location and design exhaustively. The only location to feasibly get plumbing to the second floor was directly above the downstairs bathroom. Luckily, this was also right off the hallway stairs where we could locate the door. This was the only configuration to get a sink, toilet and tub all in the room. While it wasn’t my favorite configuration, it actually works quite well for the small space.

This space also just happened to be part of the closet space for the smaller bedroom.

The flooring was the same as the rest of the upstairs so we kept it and sanded and finished it along with the rest.

We snagged this 4ft. salvaged pedestal tub from marketplace and it fits just perfectly! We spent some time cleaning it up and painting it.

We also salvaged and refinished this cabinet for storage. it was covered in layers of paint. Stripping it took some time and elbow grease, but we love how it turned out!

The trim and the mirror was also made from wood that we salvaged from the house.

The sink base and sink were both marketplace finds.

The towel bar, shower and sink fixtures are all new.

The sign on the wall was being used to over a hole in the floor for the smaller bedroom. We thought it would fit nicely in here!

Then we added in some accessories and it’s finished!
